We lost Marley on September 20, 2006 to unknown causes. She was expecting a foal in January 2007. She was one of those special horses that instantly becomes part of your heart and many of our dreams rested on her shoulders. She will be deeply missed. The following information tells her story.

Nita is based in Ft Lupton Colorado and has been in the Appaloosa business since 1981.

Marley's Story

Marley was one of the first mares we added to our broodmare band in 2004. Honestly, just one look at her photos and we fell in love with her HUGE hip, over all balance and she had all that COLOR to boot! Now, with us getting just getting started in the business, falling in "love" with a horse on looks alone can be dangerous - thankfully, as we looked at her pedigree, we found that she fit the bill we had been looking to fill. She is out of an own daughter of Princes Image [by Prince Plaudit] and by a stallion named Mctavish who is out of Princes Mcdonald] and Mighty Pauline a full sister to Mighty Paul [by Mighty Bright].

We finalized her purchase in July 2004 and had her shipped here to Texas, where she went through about a week of turning her nose up at our water - of course she was used to drinking water in Colorado that came directly off of the glacier! Other than that, she settled in quite well, and now has taken over that special place in our hearts.

We had planed to breed her in early 2005, but we missed her early cycles, so we made the call to hold off until 2006 to breed her to have one of those "early" foals. We had purchased a breeding in the Texas Halter Futurity to Quincy's T (Res. World Halter Champion) in anticipation of the event. She took matters onto her own "hooves" in the last part of Febuary and made SURE that we caught her cycle. We loaded her up and went to visit her "boyfriend" who she found herself quite found of - staying in heat for a FULL 2 WEEKS!

Mctavish is a stallion that you don't find in too many pedigrees, but when you do run across someone that knew him, he was was refered to as "The GREAT Mctavish". As a young horse, he was shown in Halter by ApHC Hall of Famer - O.J. Martens.
