Absolute CowgirlEbony is HOME in Texas!

We made our trip to Fort Worth for the ApHC World show to pick up our darling little Ebony. In the last news letter, we posted that we were planning on her showing in both Non-Pro and Open Weanling Fillies. After much thought and debate, we decided that it was in her best interest to pull her out of the show. Although we are "pleased as punch" with how lovely she is (talk about a massive front end and hip) realistically, she was a still a little short compared to those January and February babies out there. On top of that, upon hearing that she was making her way to Texas, she took to heart that Texas is known for BIG HAIR :-) She decided that a winter coat was needed no matter how many blankets you put on her.... so with a less than perfect hair coat, and being a hand shorter than all of the other fillies out there.... we decided that her World Show debut could wait until 2007.

We now have her home, and turned out to play until January 2007 when she will go back into preparation for the 2007 show season. We are focusing on ground schooling her and letting her be a baby for a the rest of the year. We are looking to show her as a yearling not only in Non-Pro and Open Yearling Halter but Lunge line as well!

Ebony's Sire Hi Tech Cowboy finishes top 5 at Worlds!

Hi Tech CowboyHi Tech CowboyCongratulations are in order for our dear friends Brian Amerine and Amy Kocher of Sycamore Run Appaloosas LLC, the owners of Ebony's sire Hi Tech Cowboy. Hi Tech was shown in Non-Pro Aged Stallions and Open Aged Stallions bringing home two top 5 finishes from the 2006 ApHC World Show.

We loved to watch him in the ring, all that color sure is hard to miss. Hi Tech placed well in both Non-Pro and Open pulling a 4th place in Non-Pro being shown by Brian and a 4th place in Open.

Hopefully, if you were able to come to the show, you had a chance to drop by his stall... he has a wonderful temperament and is even more lovely up close. Hi Tech is standing at Sycamore Run Appaloosas.Sycamore Run Appaloosas. Check out their website for more information.

Kelly and Cameo clean up in the Non-Pro Most Colorful Class

Kelly & CameoWe met Kelly over the internet, throuch several of the Appaloosa message boards out there after we purchased Ebony. Cameo (Enduring Vision) also came from Sawyer Creek Appaloosas in New York, so we became family in a way...we became "Creekies".

We got to met Kelly face to face at the World show this year and she is an absolute delight to talk with, and boy talk about ENERGY :-) she is a mile a minute girl! Her "Creekie" - Cameo is a beautiful black and white leopard yearling filly and she walked away with 5th in the Non-Pro Most Colorful class.

Now when we say Most Colorful.... we mean MOST COLORFUL! This class was jam packed with spots and some very fine mature horses and of course several babies. Now in a class stacked with mature horses with 40% of the judging based on confirmation (leaving the other 60% for color) a young horse is really at a disadvantage. Older horses carry more mature physics and a whole lot more bulk.... for a YEARLING to walk away with a Top 5 spot... that tells you what a WONDERFUL filly Cameo is! Congratulations Kelly! We look forward to seeing you at the shows next year!
