Marlene Mctavish

We are sad to announce that we have lost our favorite broodmare. Marley passed on September 20, 2006 to unknown causes. She was in foal to Quincy's T for a January 2007 foal, so we lost her as well as the dream of what her foal would become.

Marley was our cornerstone broodmare, and we planned to add her foals to our herd. It is hard not to have part of her left on the ranch and although she had one foal prior to coming to us (Bart's Bay Butler out of Mighty Black Bart), he was sold at auction, and currently is off the radar. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of this 2004 colt, please let us know.

We had planned to start our update to the Mare's page with Marley's page which we completed about a week before we lost her. We have decided to go ahead and post her page as a memorial. Please the take a few moments to get to know a wonderful mare.     Marlene Mctavish's Page

Goodbye our dear girl, you will be truly missed.

C I'm A Shado TwoCactus makes his Texas show debut

Although we added Cactus to our family as a herd sire, we decided we had to show him off.

So we bathed and polished him, and loaded him up and headed off the Brenham, Texas. Of course he thought we were crazy loading him up before he had his breakfast!

This was also Mom's debut, but the two of them had a wonderful time showing off. He brought home a ton blue ribbons and several National points. Who knows, I may talk Mom into showing him again next spring!

CashNCactus Finale

We would also like to congratulate Donna Evans on her successful 2006 show season with CashNCactus Finale - "Lightning". Lightning is a 2003 bay snowcap gelding out of our wonderful Cactus. Lighting is showing in HIH and Foundation Gelding Classes and is currently ranked 6th in the Nation in Foundation Geldings.

Ebony is taking on the World!
Well at least the ApHC world! That's right folks, Ebony has hit the show ring and is doing wonderfully! So we have signed her up, and she will be showing in Fort Worth this November at the World Championship Appaloosa Show. We would like to thank Hi Tech's owners Brian and Amy of Sycamore Run Appaloosas LLC for all the wonderful support and advise they have kindly offered us through this process - we just couldn't have done it with out you all!

Absolute Cowgirl ~ Reserve Champion Mare

On her 1st trip out in Open Halter ~
she won her Weanling Filly Halter class and she walked away as Reserve Champion Mare !
At less than 6 months of age, she beat out mature mares that had won their classes!
She is pictured here with the yearling filly "Cameo" who took Grand Champion Mare. Cameo was also bred
by Sawyer Creek Appaloosas in New York and is currently owned by Kelly Engle Thompson.

Hi Tech Cowboy & Sky Hi Cowboy

Ebony is showing in great company, her sire Hi Tech Cowboy and her half brother Sky Hi Cowboy - "Timmy". They say they make quite the spectacle at the shows! Hi Tech is a vivid black and white leopard and both Ebony and Timmy are black and white few spots.

Page 83 of the September Appaloosa Journal featured Hi Tech and Timmy with their outstanding National Show results.
